Jagdeep Sahans is a calligrapher and DCCI member who runs her business, Soul Scribe, from her studio just outside of New Ross in Co. Wexford. She creates a collection of reflection cards which combine the evocative power of nature photography with the scientific benefits of writing things down.
What’s a typical day in the studio like for you?
A typical day for me starts with replying to emails and engaging with social media. After this, I love to settle into creating calligraphy artwork. Some days – I can be a rebel and totally get wrapped up in producing something beautiful or experimenting with new ideas.

What do you like most about your work?
I absolutely love zoning in and getting lost in bringing words to life! I really enjoy the projects that are challenging and creating new script styles.
What do you like least about your work?
Oh, have to say anything that takes me away from creating. As a micro-business owner, I normally take a deep breath and go for it.
What’s your favourite craft item in your home?
My favourite craft item is a wooden plaque from the Indus Valley. It’s beautifully handmade and I love it!
If it's something that you love - you will enjoy every single moment. Even the bad ones. And, keep the faith.
