The Made Local Market took place August 9th to 11th, 2024. Visitors were invited to immerse themselves in the craft and design market in the picturesque grounds of the Medieval Mile Museum, Kilkenny. This unique market offered the opportunity to discover and purchase original, high-quality Irish-made products, showcasing Irish makers’ exceptional creativity and skill.
‘Made Local, Made to Last’
The Craft Market showcased a number of talented Made Local craftspeople from various disciplines including woodwork, jewellery, and skincare providing an exceptional experience for those seeking high-quality handmade products. This intimate setting allowed visitors to engage directly with the designers and makers, gaining insights into the creative process and inspiration behind each piece.
Kilkenny Arts Festival
Kilkenny Arts Festival is renowned for its vibrant, multi-disciplinary programme, featuring visual art, classical music, theatre, literature, dance, and more. It attracts visitors from all corners of Ireland and beyond, making it one of the country’s premier cultural events. This year, Design & Crafts Council Ireland (DCCI) was excited to introduce its craft market as part of the Made Local initiative, dedicated to championing Irish design and craftsmanship.
