As part of Irish Design Week 2024, Dublin Independent Fashion Week will host an event to highlight the incredible talent in the Irish Fashion Industry.
Dublin Independent Fashion Week is returning for its second year: this time with a reinvigorated format and expanded line-up of Fashion events taking place from 11th-17th November 2024.
Responding to the lack of an official Fashion Week in Ireland, Dublin Independent Fashion Week provides a platform for both emerging and established talents in Irish Fashion to showcase their work to both a national and international audience. DIFW hopes to inspire designers to stay in Ireland at a time when more and more creatives are drawn away to fashion hubs outside of home. With an aim to expand, improve and build each year, DIFW is ultimately a space for fashion, jewellery and accessory designers to showcase their work within a supportive community of Irish designers.
DIFW is hosting a two-day Irish Design Showroom in the Banquet Hall of Smock Alley Theatre, Dublin, on November 15th & 16th 2024. There will be a total of 20 Designers showcasing their work, with each brand curating their own immersive space, welcoming visitors into their world. Each designer’s work is grounded in a commitment to sustainability, creating fashion that is both stylish and socially conscious. As well as this, DIFW will debut its “Ones to Watch” feature of six emerging talents on the cusp of breaking through.
Fashion Industry professionals, buyers, investors, influencers and media will have early access to the showroom space on Friday 15th. The Friday evening launch will be industry-exclusive, incorporating a live-model presentation to showcase the work of every designer.
The showroom is open to the general public on Saturday 16th, with exciting performances in the space throughout the day and opportunities to meet the designers and shop their collections. Ticket sales for Saturday’s public event will go live on Eventbrite in late October.
The DIFW 2024 Irish Design Showroom in Smock Alley Theatre is part-funded by the Design & Crafts Council Ireland. The two-day event will go live in conjunction with this year’s Irish Design Week, highlighting the significance of the Fashion Industry in Ireland while showcasing the very best of Irish creativity, design, and exceptional craftsmanship.
Satellite DIFW events will also take place around Dublin city throughout the week, including a series of live events in Fade Street Studios, which will be added to the official DIFW schedule (To Be Announced).
Curated by a committee of 7 Irish designers Laoise Carey, Sarah Carroll Kelly, Aisling Duffy, Ríon Hannora, Mihai Mar, Megan McGuigan and Sarah O’Neill, DIFW began as a conversation between a group of friends in the industry who unanimously sought to create more opportunities that champion independent fashion and accessory designers in Ireland.
DIFW will conclude with an exclusive after-party in Dublin City…(details To Be Announced!)
