As part of Irish Design Week 2024, you’ll have the opportunity to dive into the exciting world of circular fashion and textile design with Circular Textiles Lab.
A one-day event dedicated to circular textile design and reuse. It will unite designers, students, and the community to explore innovative ways to reduce waste and create sustainable fashion. This event will inspire sustainable practices, foster creativity, and demonstrate the power of imagination in addressing textile waste.
Event Components: 1. Circular Design Sprint (Morning): Participants, guided by mentors, will form teams to create textile products using recycled or up-cycled materials. They’ll develop rapid prototypes and vote share to social media for public voting. 2. “Reimagine” Workshop (Afternoon): Attendees will learn hands-on techniques like patchwork, natural dyeing, and garment reconstruction to transform old textiles into new, functional items. 3. Collaborative Textile Installation: Throughout the day, participants will contribute to a large-scale art piece made entirely from reclaimed fabrics, symbolising the potential of reuse and collective creativity.
