A home for Design in Kilkenny
The Design Kilkenny 2023 event will build on the momentum created by Design Kilkenny 2022 Past-Present-Future. This event in November 2022 re-emphasised the importance of the Kilkenny Design Workshops both in the past and today and re-ignited interest and the desire to create a lasting home for Design in Kilkenny.
Design Kilkenny 2023 will explore KDW’s legacy and stories in the context of the wider community and its influence on business using examples of Kilkenny companies that have forged Global Paths. There are many examples of businesses and brands that can trace a path directly and indirectly to the legacy and influence of the KDW era.
Through Design Kilkenny 2023 we look forward to examining how folklore and related themes have influenced and continue to influence society and business and the value of Design in shaping inclusive and diverse communities.

Kilkenny is inextricably linked with craft due to the long history between makers and the county. It’s an honour to provide a platform that showcases the talent we have right on our doorstep from makers that have international significance.
