Oak Falls Sign Workshop, A workshop in two parts led by sign painter and artist Róisín Tree/She Rose Signs: Easa Daire meaning ‘Waterfall Oak’ in Irish is taken from the Irish for Ballisodare ‘Baile Easa Daire’, town of the waterfall and Oak.
The workshop will take place in Ard Voltas Art Space. Part one of this workshop ‘Foraging Lore’ seeks to bring together local people from the village and surround of Ballisodare, Co Sligo to gather lore and stories from the environs, especially that related to nature.
Part two titled: ‘Crafting Lore’ will invite those people and others to learn the craft of sign painting skills under Róisín’s guidance. Participants will design and paint signs with words taken from the ‘foraged’ nature folklore from part one of the workshop. The words will be translated to Irish, Ogam with English words also.
