Meet our Members

Roy is the fourth generation of the Humphreys family to work with wood. He is a self-taught woodturner; it started as a hobby and has now developed into a business. He has been woodturning for 30 years.

His studio is based in a converted granary beside his home outside Mohill. Roy uses native timber, including Ash, Beech, and Alder, sourced mainly from his family farm. The collection of items he turns includes bowls, platters, cheese boards, lazy susans, table lamps, pens, tea lights, and other interesting sculpted pieces.

Milling timber on my mobile saw and preparing it for drying, Turning Bowls and roughing them out for drying making pens or Tea Lights.

Good sharp tools and dry your timber properly using a Moisture metre.
