An exhibition of skilled craftsmanship by the 28 members of the MADE in Kilkenny collective
In Irish minds, Kilkenny is synonymous with craft. The establishment of Kilkenny Design Workshops in the city in 1963 brought skilled makers to the area. That foundation was strengthened in the following decades through initiatives by Design & Crafts Council Ireland.
Today, the county sparkles with a galaxy of makers working in various mediums. Twenty-eight of these makers comprise the Made in Kilkenny collective whose work is shown in MADE in Kilkenny/ Made Local: a celebration of excellence in craft.
Running until the 28 October the exhibition embodies the spirit of DCCI’s Made Local, Made to Last campaign and marks the latest in this year’s Design and Crafts Council Ireland (DCCI) series of exhibitions focusing specifically on Irish design and craft.
